Virginia Beach Virginia Raccoon Control Situation: David, Since last week we have been seeing Racoon passing through our backyard. I think it is coming from somewhere. Walks on the fence between us and the neighbors. Jumps on one of the yard looks around and leaves. Is there anything we can do so it does not come on our fence. We leave in the neighborhood which is surrounded by homes so I am wondering why is he selecting to pass from our fence. I read you can spray Cayane pepper. Does that work? We had Racoons leaving under our deck a few years ago. We had them professionally trapped and removed. There was a gap, and we have blocked the way to go under the deck. It is costly to get rid of them. Thanks.

My response: You can try pepper spray, let me know if it works! Otherwise, trapping is the way to go.

I contacted a company I found in the Yellow Book in Virginia Beach, I talked to the guy and he just didn't seem to interested in coming out, so I told some of the things I read onyour web site that these companys do for you and he would say oh we don't do this or that, I said some of the pictures show cutting a hole in the nesting area remove the baby's and use them as live bait to get the adult to come out. At first he said we don't cut holes to gain access and I kept telling his company was recomended by your site, then all of sudden he said oh yes we cut holes sometimes but they don't repair. So in the end I asked him price, he said flat rate for what he had to do was $800.00, sound steep to me for someone who really didn't sound like he even for to do the job. My feeling to get rid of me he gave me that price, it worked I said goodbye. Can you help we with someone else in my area.

Hi I am in Virginia Beach. If you know Vigrinia Beach we are surrounded by woods. We see wildlife quite often. I do TNR of feral cats. We're loaded with feral cats. In the last two years I have removed 50 kittens and placed in homes and spayed/neutered 50 cats and release them. One problem is many of us feed the feral cats but we have spayed/neutered them. So what we have here recently is a raccoon that has been coming here in our yards during the light hours of 6-8pm stealing our feral cat food (and also at night). Unusual for nocturnal animal to be so forceful in the day light hours. I know, I know - I need to put the food away at a certain hour. I do, but he still has been coming back. I think he might be living under a deck somewhere. Also look at the picture.....the neck of this raccoon is missing fur. What could that be a symptom of? He may have mange, fleas, distemper? Bottom line - we need him out of here. How much to trap and remove and relocate him? Thanks
