Corpus Christi Texas Raccoon Control Situation: David please call me ASAP I have a HORRIBLE raccoon an opossum problem! I've had this raccoon kill 3 other raccoons an I think he also may have killed a baby opossum in my yard! I've got dead body pieces all over my yard along with feces! He's been scratching like crazy an looks sick! I called animal control an they won't do anything! I have a small child an I can't go into my yard! I also have 2 cats that are freaking out cuz he comes to my back door and windows. PLEASE HELP! I don't know what to do. Stephanie please help I'm sooo scared! I'm too Blessed to be Stressed!
Hi, David! Great site. Like you, I respect raccoons as fellow creatures. I love watching whole families' nocturnal forays through my yard, presumably to neighbors' yards where cat/dogfood has been left out. I've even left them an apple slice or two. (Mistake?!?) But I DON'T love the noise of mom raising her young just above my head between the attic subfloor and my ceiling sheetrock! They're nesting, scratching and squealing, bumping and thudding above me with less than an inch of material separating their life from mine! And then there's the urine stain below that "latrine" area you mention! The smell! That mom and litter have just recently decamped, but the smell remains. Another, newborn, litter has just started squeaking and scratching on the other side of the house. If I can't work up the nerve and find the protective gear to tackle it myself, I'm probably going to have to call experts because you've freaked me out about the roundworm eggs and mold spores! But how do I get rid of the urine smell and stains? Any quick fixes? And because they're between ceiling and subfloor, is cutting out sections of ceiling sheetrock the only way to go? Please help. I'm not a rich woman.
