Plano Texas Raccoon Control Situation: Dear David, I live in Texas, and have had to deal with all kinds of critters in my 12 years of home ownership. Your website is a TRIP, because most people never believe my true animal stories! Superbly entertaining and educational! The pictures are GREAT! I was just on the phone telling my friend in Florida about my current mystery attic critters. She shared your website with me, so now I think there might be a raccoon up there. You have helped me long-distance (via your web presence) diagnose the problem and possible solution. I just need to find one of those neat repeater traps. I am sure there are at least two of whatever comes out of my attic and leaves a poop trail along my back porch. I hear them leave late at nite and return in the wee hours. The variety of wildlife in my neighborhood is astounding. Bobcats and coyotes have an abundant supply of rabbits, fox squirrels, possums, armadillos, etc., etc My husband even witnessed a bobcat strut along our front porch with a freshly killed rabbit one evening. Never a day goes by without a wildlife encounter. I just wanted to express my appreciation for the information you have provided. If you are ever in Texas, you are welcome to stay with us! Sincerely, Regina
I have read the data that you provide on your website and it was very informative. I here you loud and clear that raccoons are really a job for the professionals. However, what do you do when the raccoons continue to invade your property. I had a raccoon issue back in April of this year and I called the professional and when it was all said and done it cost me over $400 ($229 to set up, $79 for each animal caught and $89 to seal entry point). Well fast forward 6 months and I again have a raccoon problem. The raccoons have torn a hole in my roof (different entry point) and are again in my attic. This time I called around and after 2 weeks of calling different professionals and not getting any return calls I went back to the original company whom is going to charge me $159 (discounted from $229)for set up, $79 for each animal caught and whatever needs done to repair the roof. This is getting quite costly for me and I am afraid that if this continues I will not be able to afford it. My only resort may be to trap them myself but I would not be able to set my trap on the roof and may run into all of the amateur mistakes that you mention. Any advice that you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
