Suffolk County New York Raccoon Control Situation: Last night it seemed as if someone was moving around in my attic...quite scary...just in time for holloween. In any event I went out on my deck in the dark to see if some animal was walking on the roof when from behind me something swished by ..an animal...and headed towards the stairway. The stream of light from my next door neighbor showed me that it was a RACOON. It stopped...looked and me...and scurried across the lawn and away into the backyard bushes. This morning I went up into the attic but I didn't see anything. What do I do to keep this racoon away from my attic if he or she hasn't moved in already. It was as big as a dog and quite frightening in the dark. Please let me know........Thank you........Sincerely, Peggy
I live in Bohemia, Long Island, and was wondering what your rates were for removing a raccoon and installing a chimney cap. If I am outside of your service area, could you please suggest a company/person that could possibly help? Thank you so much. After catching Raccoons, I am having a problem with getting Raccoons not entering my trap. I have been using marshmallows as bait as I don't want to catch neighbor cats. Any suggestion you may offer would be appreciated.
Hi David, I live in eastern Long Island in NY. For three years, I've been having a persistent problem with raccoon poop on the top step of my in ground pool waterfall. His favorite spot to poop in under a Japanese maple on top of the rocks. The rocks retain the days heat so that might be inviting to the critter! Do I know it's a raccoon for sure? No, I don't -never seen it "in action". However, it's poop is similar to cats and I've heard that their poop looks similar. I also realize that cats almost always will bury their business. I have a humane trap that I never tried, but have tried a deterrent spray smelling of garlic all around the waterfall. It seems to work, but if I don't continually use it, the problem comes back. In addition, the spraying is getting expensive. It's an Agway product. Anyway, do you have any suggestions? Do you think it might be a raccoon? If not, what are the other possibilities (a dirty cat)? Should I try my Havahart trap? I've trapped many other nuisance animals in my yard, squirrels, ground hogs, possum but never had a raccoon issue! A deer invader unfortunately impaled himself on my fence once! I've been reading your website and find it very helpful and informative. Thanks for your help, Rob
