Kansas City Missouri Raccoon Control Situation: My wife and I have an intensive interest in our gardens. We have tried to introduce various wild life into these gardens for added interest. We have attempted ducks and quail; however, much to our frustration the local raccoons are an irrepressible threat to these gentler critters. A couple of years ago I realized the one interesting animal we have in abundance is squirrels!! The surrounding woodlands are of various species of oak and hickory plus the occasional black walnut. It is a squirrel s paradise. A little research lead to the discovery that there are more than just the common grey squirrels and fox squirrels. There are white and black color variants of the fox squirrel. Some cities prize their populations and have regulations protecting them, but I know of some populations outside of protected areas. The problem I can t seem to solve, is finding a reputable live trapper within a reasonable distance of Kansas City. There are known populations of both white and black squirrels within 300 miles of KC. Would you have any recommendations? I have attached a couple of photos of our squirrel paradise just for purposes of authenticating our interest.
Hey David, My kid and I are fond of raccoons and were looking for pictures online, which led us to your website. We've just spent half an hour browsing it with terrific pleasure. I've got to ask: how on earth did you become familiar enough with all these different animals to trap and remove them safely, both for you and for them? I'm curious especially about how you avoid getting bitten by female coons when you take their young--and how on earth do you get a colony of bats to abandon its roosting site? I understand if you are too busy dealing with animals to chat about that activity, but I wanted to tell you I'm glad you exist & that you're making an effort to get people to remove their critters instead of poisoning them. Thanks for a pleasant browse through Florida's wildlife/human interface... Sincerely, Ian
